Java: Closable

When working with multiple resources that need to be closed after we are done using, I particularly like the approach of using Closable Interface:

try {
// open input streams and use them
}
catch (IOException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
finally {
attemptClose(inputSteamA);
attemptClose(
inputSteamB);
}

private void attemptClose(Closeable object) {
if (object != null) {
try {
object.close();
}
catch (IOException ignore) {
}
}
}

My favorite quotations..

“A man should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.”  by Robert A. Heinlein
