loneliness

Loneliness is like a rust,
but love; which may not last,

which brands us scorching so
is lonesome feelings' foe.

This marriage of love and lone,
the feeling which come and gone,

Here now! The love is on!
Gloom then, tomorrow's gone.

The tears, heart-aches -- I care not heed,
True love is all I need.

Great Smoky Mountains, NC

It feels good to be in mountains again. After non-stop, near 100F of Florida and Georgia, the low 80s feel good. The steep, green slopes make me simply happy to look at, they remind me of the shapes of Gorce Mounatins, Poland, where I grew up. The mounatins really conrast with the boredom of the plains that I so despise -- I do love ocean, but not the flatlands. I think Oregon, or British Columbia would be a place for me, ocean and the mountains, that is of course if I cannot live in Pyrenees, near the Mediterean Sea. I better start working on my Spanish/Catalonian/French!
Tonight, it is too late to look around, early start tomorrow. I having a dinner in the nice family Italian restaurant, per recommendation, ah chicken florentina!!!

Liliann is my faithful companion, today we drove for some 7 hours, she did not sleep a minute, not a single complaint.

Savannah, GA

There are few places in US that speak "romantic" only by mentioning their name, Savannah, Georgia is definitely one of them. Basking in the sun, so much gentler that that of harsh Florida, makes the place trully green, everything is verdant and alive here. The city's old architecture, cabble-stone streets, waterfront parks with tall trees and moss hanging from every branch make for the feel of mystry and romance.

Smiling faces, beutiful places.

Daytona Beach, Florida

This is the second time in my life I am in Daytona Beach. The first one in Marine Corps with some military friends, Agnieszka and Ania. It was a great spring break.
This time with Lili, we drove thru the town and stopped north of the town to swim before the sunset. The water is great and the surf a great fun. The sun and the beach is a delight. There is over 50 miles of a perfect beach to Jacksonville, beach-bum paradise. Could be romantic if not so alone. The sunset is lovely. I would like to see the sunrise tomorrow somewhere on the beach in Georgia.

Sea

.. For it is the wife as much as the need of adventure that has sent this poor o'salt to the sea ...

Driving across the Florida, by Lake Okeechobe, and listening to the "Treasure Island" by Stevenson.

Florida

We finally madee it to Florida after 3 days of driving. It takes about 20 hours, but we drove the speed limit, found the hotels right after the dark, and slept in long. The travel wil Liliann is not difficult at all, actually would not make any difference if I went by myself. She does not complain, we stop for restroom breaks when I need to and for food when I am starving, her needs are the same.
The Hampton Inn hotels do not support the Mac computers, so last night I changed the rooms to Marriot, since the Hampton had only smoking room and Internet did not work. I was promissed not to be chargged, I left the good tip behind.

Drive to Florida

This is a second day of driving, somewhere outside Atlanta, GA. The weather is nice, 104F, since my skin is burned, it is painful in the sun. The scenery of Appalatian hills is breathtaking. Driving within the speed limit, no rush, no schedule to meet. Listening to the book Robinson Crusoe is a good entertainment. Lili is really good, no need to stop more than for myself, but it is hard with a baby girl.

Sun rising in the east

With my heart pierced
the long, wintery night,
my eyes raise in hope
to the sun in the east.
I traveled far, farther need to go
olympic torch, the candle of love
will shine again, Rumi said...
you slash my throat a thousand times
and I will burn as bright!

Never alone

You are never alone.

A single drop of blood,
one distressed move,
sharks gather.

Put the full sail cover on,
keep your course.

The North Star,
or Southern Cross
will guide you,
you are never alone.

remembrance of a day past

we surf waves' crests and valleys, up and down we glide!
moist-green veil shrouds and comforts in a breathless ride!

full sails' pale breasts, sun-glittered mast,
they are memory of a today's past.

the sand-bar point can't frighten us,
it's too, remembrance of today's past.

rest now my friend and dearest lover,
green park has brought us feelings again all over.

in air floats sweet smell of the surf,
a fly breaks peace and strikes my nerve.

Epiphany - living the dream

Epiphany is one of these interesting words that can mean so much. For me it means the crossroad where I chose the road less travelled. The road less travelled is less smooth, harder to travel, so you cannot carry all your baggage with you. But it is a road the it more interesting, pictoresque and romantic. Sometime this road feels lonely, but then you meet a friend along that lonely path.

Today I heard a saying: a power boater laughing at the slow sailboat about not getting anywhere fast, the captain answered, "But dear, I am already there!" I am living a dream, and I choose my path daily to live that dream, I will not have any other way.

Hardship

With your heart so near,
              no hardship I can't steer,

thru the tallest waves
              my soul happily braves.

Take away all this
and the home port I'll miss.

Like sailors' stars and sun
love's light is the guiding one.

Tips for the (new) employee

Sit & stand tall, walk smart, always carry a notebook, take the written notes when the clients/seniors are talking.

Press, dress and impress.
Press dress and impress.

Not a scruffy, messy dress, empty mind, but shinny to impress.

Kings & Queens

To become a king
you have to be a prince
in the first place,
or at least a noble knight.
No nation chooses their kings
from among the fools.

Moon over the coral lagoon

Another night when the moon was full, I went on the deck looking at our ghostly visitor. The water was so clear and moon so bright, the water disapeared and the sandy bottom of the coral lagoon appeared with perfect clarity. The yacht was floating 20 feet above, seemingly suspended in midair.

My favorite quotations..

“A man should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.”  by Robert A. Heinlein
